Lenovo M710t

I was wrong about my NAS hardware—it’s not a Dell PC, but a Lenovo M710t. It’s a used machine that I’ve since upgraded to serve as my primary storage hub and homelab server.

I’ve made a few upgrades to the original specs to keep things smooth:

  • Intel i5-7400: The heart of the machine, handling my storage and apps quite well.
  • 32 GB (16x2) DDR4 2666 MHz: Upgraded RAM to ensure I don’t run out of memory when running multiple containers.
  • 512 GB NVMe Disk: My fast boot and system drive.
  • 2x 4 TB Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives: Reliable storage for all my data.

It runs TrueNAS Community Edition, which handles everything from file storage to running apps like Nextcloud, Immich, and Pi-hole. It’s a solid, reliable workhorse that just sits there and does its job.
