Reclaiming video memory for a headless server
I’ve been meaning to optimize the resources on my Beelink SER5 Mini PC since it runs entirely headless as a Proxmox VE server.
I am not an expert on hardware allocation, but it turns out there’s a better way to manage the memory. Graphics memory (UMA buffer size) is not at all required for its current purpose. I reduced the graphics card memory to 64M, freeing up a significant chunk of RAM for the virtual machines.
I might need to reconsider if I ever switch it back to a machine with a display, but for now, it’s perfect. That’s about it.
